This is my first genuine commission that I did over time instead of at AnthroCon, and I'm very proud of the time and effort I put into it. I've always like creating drawings of others' fursonas. The most difficult part was the wingweb tattoos, but I did enjoy finishing it. This is also the largest piece of art I've ever completed at 11 x 14 inches, right off the edges of the paper. Done with Faber-Castel PITT pens, Crayola colored pencils, and background and logo by the GIMP.
I appreciate that! This is probably one of the LONGEST periods of time that I've ever taken to complete something that someone else wanted... but I can breathe a good sigh of relief that I pulled it off!

Awww, shucks. I was really worried whether I'd be able to do well with the colored pencils, but it turns out that I hadn't forgotten my old tricks. I just needed to revisit them and experiment with the combination of ink and colored pencils (Crayola, by the way!) to create maximum contrast between the two. It turns out that I ink, color, then edge the major edges again with thicker lines on top to bring the black back out. Adds the illusion of closeness to the viewer, too, if the increase in line thickness is subtle.

Heh, have to comment even though I've seen this before you posted. Again, can't thank you enough, and I'm nearly finished on my end of the deal, just the APFA and then the teams to go. Nice to see my big guy in full glory again.
That's why I use them. The leads tend to break far more easily... but for the price? Can't beat 'em. The only non-Crayola I use is fleshtone, and I use a Prismacolor for that.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
